About 0kx

0kx.io "Zero Knowledge Exchange" is a personal project born out of a desire to have a bare-bone, free service to exchange information safely on the Internet. Before it was closed in 2020, Firefox Send was the go-to free service to send files securely, but since then, no free "secure" service quite filled the gap (IMHO).

I have over 25 years of experience in the technology industry, with a significant portion of that time dedicated to secure communication and the implementation of Information Security Management Systems (ISMS). I am also well-versed in security framework, including PCI-DSS and ISO 27001.

I have applied all my experience in security and encryption to make sure 0kx security is state of the art and can be used to exchange confidential and personal information safely.

All sensitive data, including files and messages, is encrypted locally on your computer using JavaScript’s encryption APIs. This ensures that your unencrypted content and encryption keys remain private and never communicated or shared with our service. You are the sole custodian of the encryption/decryption key. To securely share the encryption/decryption key and the link to your secure vault on 0kx with your intended recipients, you must do so through your own means. This step further enhances the security of our service.

The service is operated from Canada, where I reside, and the encrypted content is securely stored on Amazon Web Services’ S3 (Canada-Central) region.
